Objective

Learn eight knots that cover 95% of field tasks.

The Set

  1. Bowline: fixed loop that won’t slip.
  2. Figure‑8 on a bight: strong midline loop.
  3. Clove hitch: quick anchor around posts.
  4. Trucker’s hitch: tensioning lines (shelters).
  5. Prusik: sliding friction hitch for ridgelines.
  6. Sheet bend: join ropes of different sizes.
  7. Zeppelin bend: secure, unties after load.
  8. Half hitch + stopper: finish and lock lines.
