 About this Songwriter   ::::::::::::::::::::::::

 Derryl's unique musical style blends the edge of today’s Country with the traditional sounds of classic Americana and Texas music. It's a potent style, infused with traces of Southwestern flavor that he’s picked up through many years of songwriting and performing.

As a live performer, Derryl has established a growing legion of fans through non-stop touring and a dynamic stage show that mixes poignant ballads with danceable, high-energy tunes.

Since 2000, he’s logged more than 600 fair, festival, casino and major club performances in 24 states. He’s also opened for major recording artists such as Diamond Rio, Tracy Byrd, Joe Diffie, Chris Ledoux, Andy Griggs, Mark Wills, Asleep at the Wheel, Gene Watson, Gary Allan and others.

Originally hailing from Texas City, TX, Derryl grew up in the midst of a Texas music scene where the term "Country" describes a lifestyle as much as it does a genre of music.

His blue-collar beginnings, combined with the musical influences of such prominent Texas artists as Willie Nelson, Gary Stewart and George Strait, provided Derryl with abundant inspiration to draw upon as he began developing his own unique musical voice.

Once based in Nashville, things began to accelerate for Derryl. He recorded an independent, self-titled debut CD, which was well received by both the Country music media and fans. In 1999, "The Ink Hasn’t Even Dried," one of the tracks from that CD was included on the prestigious ASCAP Ear Compilation CD.

Several songs he’s written or co-written have been recorded by other Country artists or performed by artists on the Grand Ole Opry. In September of 2002, Derryl's performance of an original song "You Will" was featured in the USA Television Network movie "Blood Crime".

Recently, Derryl signed a recording deal with Nashville-based Music City Records and has finished recording his debut album for the label. This highly anticipated album, co-produced by J. Gary Smith (Andy Griggs) and Derryl Perry is available in record stores now.
