What a difference a year makes. Since releasing Portraits independently in 2005 Tim Tibbitts has seen his popularity grow in leaps and bounds. Hes toured both Canada and the USA including The James Brown Festival in Augusta Georgia with James Brown himself, received more great press from all over the world than one would care to read, had the cd signed for re-release in Canada by award winning indie label Nevada/Koch and now has won the award as Best Male Performer at the 2006 Toronto Independent Music Awards. Not a bad year by anyones standards in the indie world. Throw in radio play in more than 20 countries and you have 2006 in a nutshell for Tim Tibbitts.

Portraits, which will be re-released on Nov 20th 2006, features some of the best talent Canada has to offer including, Noel Webb (Skydiggers) on drums and Attila Toth (Shane Phillips)on bass. Added to this mix is the incomparable Justin Abedin (JackSoul, Simon Wilcox,Canadian Idol ) on electric guitar and Ron Lopata (JackSoul, Ashley MacIssac) on keyboards. Together they have created a sonically unsurpassed independent release produced by Tibbitts, Webb and Steve Hamilton that has proven to turn heads.

High points include:
-Signed a licensing and distribution deal with Canadian label Nevada Entertainment/Koch Entertainment. Koch has been voted the ..1 Independent distributor in North America 6 times in the last 7 years.
-Portraits has been added to rotation in 22 countries around the world on more than 240 radio stations.
-He was named one of the top 5 artists of the year for 2005 on Soundclick.com. -The album debuted in Belgium at ..45 on the top 100 played cd's in August 2005.
-Had 4 songs off Portraits selected for the producers pool to be used in this and next seasons episodes of Dog the Bounty Hunter on A&E.
-Time Has Come was selected as the opening credit sequence song for the independent feature film I Love That Effin Zippy produced by Words Allow Motion.
-3 Songs off Portraits have been selected for use in the independent feature film Four Aces by Lynnvander Productions.
-Was named one of the Top 5 best live artists by the writers of MyLive online from LaCrosse Wisconsin.
-Time Has Come was released to Major Market Commercial radio in Canada on January 23, 2006.
-The follow-up single "All My Life" was serviced April 3, 2006 by Gerry Young of Current Management followed by the first single release for Nevada/Koch in August of 2006 You Got Me which went to both Hot AC and Country markets.
-Completed 2 successful tours of the USA including 2 days at the inaugural James Brown Music Festival in Augusta Georgia in May 2006.
-A new Canadian tour will coincide with Portraits re-release in the fall of 2006.
Only more can be in store for Tim Tibbitts just over the horizon. A critically acclaimed album on a reputable label and constant touring should bring an even bigger following of fans that still know what it means to appreciate and love music for what its supposed to be: passionate, beautiful, stunning and with every bit of heart and soul one man can muster.

Here's what the press has to say!

Acoustic Guitar Magazine/Globe and Mail, Gregory R. McGuire:
Tim Tibbitts - Portraits is a dynamite collection of tunes that might best be classified as power-pop, with strong elements of Americana. Tibbitts demonstrates some stellar guitar work, with a power vibe somewhat reminiscent of the 70s. Extremely well recorded, and the artist shows a strong feel for heartfelt songwriting. This is a very impressive disc, and I look forward to hearing more from Tibbitts in the future.

Download.com:
Ontario's Tim Tibbitts plays a John Mayer brand of drama pop, using earnest vocals to catapult hooky, guitar-based tunes. But what stands out is the wise use of jazzy flourishes such as agile acoustic guitar riffs and piano runs, which give his songs an added layer of body and soul.

Phoenix Revolution.com:
His voice was beautiful enough to make me acheTim was honestly the only artist that night whose set I saw in its entirety, and the only one I honestly WANTED to see. And he was fabulous. No. Phenomenal. His voice reverberated through the Elmo like an angel's choir. He made people stop and stare.

Streetblast.com:
Just listening to the lyrics of You got me a few times, and I found myself some how singing along, really getting in to the song. It is a song that I feel any one that has really cared about anyone, and been *&^%$ over can feel! But, Its not some whiney ass song about being dumped its an upbeat positive song that offers encouragement and a positive message. Tim Tibbitts is an artist that I would recommend to anyone who loves acoustic guitar, great vocals, and amazing lyrics!

101 FM Logan City Australia Terry Neal:
Tim Tibbitts new album Portraits is a collection of a variety of folk/pop songs that range from the beautifully worded ballad "Tonight' to the harder edged "Turning Around". The album is well produced and with a range of styles that keeps it interesting and entertaining. You can't always tell where Tim is going to take a song!! An album that gets better with each listen as you discover more of the complex arrangements that go to make up some of the songs.

96.5 Inner FM Melbourne Australia Barry Wass:
Tim Tibbitts Portraits sounds almost autobiographical in its contents. His voice seems to echo disappointments of dreams gone sour. Plaintive pleadings coupled with bright periods make this an unusual but thoroughly enjoyable cd.

Lonestar Radio Japan Tom Kawai:
Some Jazzy, Some Country, Some Folky, but rock the cradle and power storm flows from his brain. It seems he is not only a singer/writer but actor of his own poetry. Very promising.

Radio Heerde Netherlands-Jan Nederveen:
Tim Tibbitts is not the average mainstream singer. He has a vital, soulful voice and you had to listen to the songs to the end. When he sings, he is in your room.

HBN Radio, Ray Rossi:
Good stuff! This project has well written tunes and is produced well. I've gotten great response on the air with this one.

Western Public Radio, Australia, Lee Stott:
You can count on Tim Tibbitts for consistent skill and poetry in almost every track. "Portraits" is a real treat.

3NRG Radio, Australia, Andrew Smith:
Good songwriting backed by a great voice - really enjoyed this album from Tim Tibbitts. This album will certainly find a place on the playlist of the Nightcap show broadcasting out of 3NRG, Sunbury, Melbourne, Australia.

2XX FM Australia, Valerie Baxter:
An outstandingly different album both acoustically and lyrically. With songs written from the heart combined with interesting guitar and keyboard, Tim Tibbitts new CD has something for everyone I heard a little jazz, a little from the folk side of music and even some country riffs among the eleven self-penned songs. My favourites would be You Got Me, All My Life and Time Has Come. Best wishes to this fine young artist in his career, both in song-writing and playing music with that special edge to it that makes it so good to listen to.

Sounclick.com-Steve Gilmore "Tracks of the year 2005":
Tim Tibbitts - Tell Me/You Got Me - I was first introduced to Tim Tibbitts this year when I reviewed Tell Me, a simple song that perfectly showcases exactly what makes this guy so special. Tim brings a rock sensibility to bear in making tracks that are something that goes way beyond mere genres. Classic songs, beautifully performed and arranged. Tim Tibbitts is a sure sign that the RW music business is absolutely blind. The power and emotion of Tell Me lies in its simplicity, allowing the lyrics and vocal to really shine and it was that element that first caught me - as well as the exceptional guitar work. It was the sheer pop-rock goodness of You Got Me that made me realize that Tim was much, much more than I had previously thought and that was high enough. You Got Me is - there is no other word for it - a magnificent song in every respect; emotionally, technically, musically. A hit record by anyones standard.
